style muse: michelle williams

i was never a fan of dawson's creek so i never noticed michelle until 2006 when she was nominated for her performance in brokeback mountain. i fell absolutely in love with her style! who would forget her appearance at that awards show wearing this beautiful, saffron-yellow vera wang gown and an unexpected red lipstick? this is probably the best oscar look i have ever seen so far.

for a blonde in hollywood, she comes across as a young woman of substance without having to do anything. i think one of the big factors is her anti-hollywood kind of style. very minimalist and romantic.

here are some of her old candids when she still had long hair:

and i loved her even more when she cut her hair short:

here are some of her recent candids. i love how she wears simple summer dresses matched with wayfarers. and she confidently goes out wearing little or no make-up! there's nothing more beautiful than a barefaced young mother.

recently, she showed up at the cannes film festival wearing this vintage chanel lacey dress! this is my second favorite red-carpet look. i think this is her first red-carpet appearance after heath's tragic death. the choice of color is subdued, and the simplicity of the dress is just perfect for the color. i don't think i can ever wear a very elaborate white gown. i believe white should always remain simple.

makes me want to wear my wedding dress all over again!
